Currently a student nurse; every clinical situation I've been in, and even at work, I get feedback that I do great at a pt relationship and communicating, but am terrible at efficiency and time management. Last night after a bad night at work I was ready to take any self-help classes, anything to help me learn not to overestimate my time, etc. This book was a great price, read it in an hour, highlighted so much in it. It almost would be worth $10-15 to me. Just hearing from someone with a ton of experience what you should automatically be thinking of/looking at when you walk into a room was priceless. Definitely going to recommend.

Excellent, well-written lessons in nursing

It’s obvious through reading his books that Jon Haws has a passion for not only nursing, but teaching others about the aspects of nursing. This book examines how nurses determine their priorities when treating patients. “Nursing Priorities: 5 Step Approach to Quick Decisions in Nursing Care” goes over topics like safety, ABC’s (Airway Breathing Circulation), Pain, Knowing Your Limitations, and Education. As stated in the book, by mastering these steps, you can avoid "decision fatigue,” something I can imagine would take a quick toll on anyone who has the wellbeing of a number of people in his or her hands.

As with all of the guidebooks from NRSNG.com, this one is written in a simple, concise, and easy-to-understand manner. I am not a nursing student, but an author who wishes to make my work sound as authentic as possible. These books are positively priceless, as far as I’m concerned.

I WISH I WOULD OF HAD THIS SOONER!

As a LPN working towards my RN, I was told I was "too task oriented". I did not have a clear understanding of what they meant until he described what he looked at when he first walked into the room to introduce himself to his patients for the night. Some may feel this is basic knowledge, but if even one skill or concept is learned from this book it is money well spent!

I've read quite a lot of stories with the plot friends-to-romance but I must say that this is the best one I have read so far! The writing was wonderful, as where the characters and their passionate story.

The chemistry between Summer and Seth took my breath away! From the very start of the story you get an insight into their childhood, which were both full of overwhelming sorrow. Summer was damaged after seeing both her parents brutally murdered at the age of five and so she was put in foster care where she ended up living with Seth and his grandma. Their friendship was remarkably strong, innocent, and pure. Even at their young age of seven, Seth was fiercely protective if his Sunny and never let any harm come to her. But eventually, they were torn apart from each other.

After years of being apart they met again, but at first it wasn't same. Both felt a sense of betrayal, thinking the other didn't try to keep in touch. It was sad to see how hurt they both felt but were too afraid of confronting the other. Of course at the time, they were none the wiser and were unaware of the true reasons. Once they reconciled it was truly beautiful. They picked up right where they left off from when they were kids and their complete trust and love was incredible! Whenever they faced troubles they didn't lie or hide things from each other, but instead faced them together.

A fair warning is that there were some parts that were pretty graphic because the deaths of Summer's parents were depicted. That being said it really helped to understand Summer's character more and the depth of her fear and pain and the cause behind the nightmares that plagued her sleep every night unless she was with Seth.

Overall this was at times a heartbreaking story but was overshadowed but the heartwarming friendship and romance that Seth and Summer shared!

A book with heart

I have come across books that are brilliantly written, professionally edited, well executed, unique plots, but not a lot of them have truly moved me. I am an emotional reader, if you make me cry, leave me breathless or awake at night, you've got a 5 star rating from me.

Olivia Lynde had me at hello. The book may be lacking in some of the characteristics listed above, but not in heart. Summer and Seth's story is a heartbreaking and heartwarming story of first, true and only love that stands the test of time and distance. After lost trust, they are able to learn from past mistakes with level-headed matureness (I don't think that is a word, but roll with it.) at a young age that comes from years of being forced to grow up too quickly. I found the last quarter of the book a little bit off a surprise, with unexpected reactions and results that were a bit of fresh air from the usual elements you see in books of this nature at this point in the story.

If you are a reader that can look beyond and see the true beauty in a story, you will not be disappointed. Ms. Lynde has a way with words and I look forward to her future projects.

Cute love story, but couldn't get into it

I absolutely love best friends falling in love stories. Especially when they start off as best friends at such a younge age. Seth is 7 and Summer is 5. They live together because Seth's grandma is Summer's foster parent.

Unfortunately this book just didn't do it for me. I gave it one more star than I thought I would because I loved the first part of them as kids. It's a cute love story and I did want to know how it ended for Seth and Summer, but I was rolling my eyes and skimming too much to think it was good. Some things were just too farfetched for me, I just couldn't get into that.

Fun Fluff, with Fangs

"Vlad Mezrich" is a pseudonym for a team of Scholastic writers who pooled their satirical talents to create this fun little book (David Levithan is the editor). The Vampire Is Just Not That Into You parodies dating guides, teen-magazine quizzes, and most of all, current tropes in vampire literature. Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1) gets the lion's share of Vlad's snark, but there are references to Anne Rice, Bram Stoker, and others as well.

Aspiring Bellas and Minas will learn how to tell a vampire from an ordinary goth or emo boy, how to attract a vampire, how to convince him to make you his immortal beloved, and how to recognize the signs of a relationship gone south. In true teen-magazine fashion, The Vampire Is Just Not That Into You features advice, quizzes, horoscopes, and "testimonial" quotes from bloodsucking fiends and the girls who love them. These sections are interspersed with notes from a vampire slayer, who has a very different perspective on things!

While this is a lighthearted, fluffy book, it actually does a great job of highlighting some disturbing vampire-lit tropes. Stalking is not romantic, and a guy who is torn between loving you and killing you is probably not Mr. Right. I can sit here as a curmudgeonly adult reader and blather about this till I'm blue in the face, but "Vlad" makes the same point much more effectively with humor.

The Vampire Is Just Not That Into You is a quick read and a great way to kill an hour or two. It reminded me a bit of Neil Zawacki's How to Be a Villain: Evil Laughs, Secret Lairs, Master Plans, and More!!!, another satirical "how-to" book that gleefully skewers literary and cinematic clichés.

It's cute enough

I both really liked this book for its satire and was leery of it because, well, I can see sparkly-eyed teen girls taking the quizzes like they do in Cosmo and holding themselves to the results. Poor boyfriends. I just can't tell if the satire wasn't strong enough or if it's just me reading a little too much into it.

Either way it was pretty funny. It's pretty much a total rip on TWILIGHT and tells you how klutzy to be in order to snag a sparkly one, among other things. The breakdown of normal boys, goth boys and vampires was pretty funny, complete with diagrams with zits and fangs (not combined, of course).

The voice was awesome and the tone was consistent. Vlad did a good job of getting his expertise across without slaughtering any of the testimonial reporters. I think. Good for him if he did.

It was a super short read, meant to be light-hearted and silly. If you're a diehard TWILIGHT fan you probably won't like it because it makes no qualms about ripping the Edward-ish a new butthole. It maintains its "integrity" until the end and I think that might be what holds me back from really loving this book. I want to but the satire is at times hard for me to swallow because I can't help but think that a couple parts might not be satirical. Kind of absurd but that line between reality and satire is blurred which makes me leery.

Still, it's a funny book and if you're looking for a quick break from the vampire inundation, this is a good break to have.

Disappointing

When it first came out, I loved He's Just Not That Into You. When I found out they had a vampire version, I just had to read it. However, I was disappointed. It was probably my own fault that I was disappointed. I didn't do enough research on the book before buying it. I thought the book was going to be a young adult book but it turned out to be middle grade. It was way below my reading level. I felt kind of silly reading it. Also, I thought it was going to be an actual novel, but it was more of a how to guide. Although He's Not That Into You was a guide as well, it didn't have all the charts and quizzes. I think the author thought that this would make the book more fun to read but it didn't. I'm not quite sure if the author was trying to be like Twilight, or make fun of it with all the references to it. It just did not work. It just made it seem like he was trying too hard to be funny. As much as I dislike the book, there are a few things that I did like about it. The cover is beautiful. I like how the cover is a spoof of He's Not That Into You, with more of a goth feel. Also when the author was using his humor in a non-twilight way, he was actually pretty witty. He made me chuckle a few times. However, the positives of the book don't make up for how much I disliked it.

Felt fantastic after just 2 weeks on this diet

I am a Sports Med/ Family Med physician in Fort Collins Colorado, and this book has been very helpful for me and my patients. It is well researched and specific. It is not just for clinicians. Fifteen of my patients have purchased this book just in the past few weeks. It is not difficult to read, and both scientists and intelligent non-scientists have liked it. The main thing about this book is that if more people ate and lived this way, the incidence of diseases like heart and peripheral artery disease and diabetes would plummet. I felt fantastic after only 2 weeks on this diet. Here is a quick summary:
Part 1: Finally, a good definition of what the Mediterranean diet actually is!
Part 2: Effects on diseases are explained nicely with great illustrations. I actually personally witnessed two amazing results. One patient dropped his LDL (bad cholesterol) by over 50 points, which is not supposed to be possible. Another went from an uncontrolled diabetic (new diagnosis) to non-diabetic in 3 months. These are just two people but it is suggestive to me that the diet plays a major role in disease control.
Part 3: Weight loss and obesity. The problem is explained, and the conclusion is that being patient and thinking about this as a lifestyle rather than a "Diet" is the way to go.
Part 4: Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats and Alcohol are addressed. Alcohol is not banned in this diet! Many non scientists will skip the pages with the molecular formulas but should read the section called "Fatty Acid Content of Various Foods" and the section on alcoholic drink equivalents at a minimum.
Part 5: The rest of the book is very helpful and specific on how to adopt the diet/lifestyle and includes recipes!

Great Book!!

A concise, well written, evidence based guide to healthy eating. I am a practicing cardiologist and find the book extremely helpful, not only in my personal life but in my interaction with patients as well. With limited time during an office visit to cover everything involved in patient care, this book empowers me with a distillation of the medical literature to counsel my patients on what they should be focusing on in their attempt to eat a healthy diet. Research studies indicate what we as physicians say and recommend to patients can and do change behavior. I want to know what I tell my patients is backed up by the literature. Dr Zacharias' book is exhausitvely researched and thorough. I congratulate him on this outstanding book.
The recipes in chapter 19 are wonderful as well.

In the short time since reading this book it has transformed my life and changed the way I see food. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to gain a better, clinical knowledge of how food plays a critical role in our health and well-being. The recipes are great too!
